About Me

Hi! My name is Natalie. I'm a 23-year-old Texas girl living in Washington, DC. I love to read novels on the subway,
watch old episodes of Law & Order: SVU (#elliviaforever,) and dance around making a fool of myself around loved ones. Most importantly, I love "alone time" in the kitchen of my (tiny) first apartment on the NW side -- cutting up vegetables to Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald & Nat King Cole.

Even though it took me a very long time to learn how not to make a mess while being "creative," that time was my peace -- my "me" time. It soon became an obsession to learn how to make new foods, as well as to make old foods new! Around the time I ran (ahem, jogged) my first half-marathon, I began experimenting with what could nourish my body more naturally -- and began to eat more fruits & vegetables instead of guzzling protein powder like a food group. This habit stuck once I learned that I could make this lifestyle delicious -- Welcome to my blog!

A few random facts about me:
  • I work in the federal atmosphere (God bless America!)
  • I'm a proud graduate of the illustrious Howard University (pronounced "Howww-wad" -- draw out the "ow" like you're getting an injection in slow motion, for dramatic effect)
  • I'm from Sugar Land, TX -- a suburb of Houston, which consistently ranks as the #1 most obese city in America (ironic?)
  • People who know me think I'm funny (oh, you don't? BUMMER.)
  • I'm currently on an expedition to read all the books by Curtis Sittenfeld (Seriously -- have you not read Prep yet?)
  • I plan on naming my first dog Stabler (The "Elliott" is optional -- I wasn't joking.)
  • Farmer's Markets thoroughly excite me (besides the cool produce, no one ever brings a scarecrow? whats up with that?)
  • I used to be a pretty good ballerina -- one day I hope to relearn!
  • If I could meet anybody -- it'd be Mariano Rivera (why can't every athlete be like him? such a stand-up guy.)
  • Every season, true Yankee fans are thoroughly comfortable/accustomed to the fact that the we might not win the World Series but we stick it through (if you recently became a bandwagon fan, this concept might make you uncomfortable -- so sad, we'll wait patiently for you to mature.)
  • I had so much fun reading these facts (oh, you didn't? BUMMER!)
