Merriam-Webster defines "haven" as "harbor or port; a place of safety, refuge; or a place offering favorable opportunities or conditions."

Here, on this blog, I wanted to share my long-grown outlook on food -- and how anyone can make their table (or kitchen) a refuge -- a place offering favorable conditions. No, not the "comfort" we all love that comes from stuffing half a pie in our mouths when we're lonely. To me, true comfort is what tastes good and stays good --  food that is nutritious for my body, yet still impressive and tasty. While a chocolate chip cookie will always hold its own (and trust me, I eat them) -- I'd rather have a satisfied body and pleased mind on most days compared to a comforted mouth and a unhappy soul every day (from knowing what I had done.)

When thinking of what to name this blog, the word "haven" kept coming back into my mind. I wanted to share how anyone can have the skills to cook clean, healthy meals (most of the time) and how you can make them easily while creating a life of balance. Since I've adopted this way of life, my table has become a place of happiness, instead of a place reeking of premature guilt.

On this blog, you'll learn to:
  • Use seasonal ingredients for optimum flavor and nutrients
  • Cook & plate impressive meals that don't take forever and that look flawless
  • Learn how nutrition can help you feel great!
  • 20% of the time -- decadent recipes with just a smudge of "undetectable healthy" (think peppermint chocolate cupcakes)

Welcome to my haven.
